For the second year in a row, the Savvy Crew was delighted to plan Dine With Merci, the annual fundraiser hosted Whitney Mercilus of the Houston Texans. Whitney is such a giving soul, and this year, the With Merci Foundation focused its efforts on supporting individuals with autism. The event hosts for the evening were original Texan Chester Pitts and Owen Confletti of Channel 2.
The WithMerci Foundation provides advocate services and support to families of children with disabilities and special needs. Each year, the foundation gives back through numerous community initiatives along with partner organizations including Easter Seals, FACES, and Smartie Pants Academy.
We held this year’s dinner at One Fifth Houston, with the incomparable Chris Shepard at the helm as head chef. Guests enjoyed an exclusive cocktail hour powered by Deep Eddy Vodka, Don Q Rum and High West Whiskey. They also enjoyed bidding on sports memorabilia and experience packages. Needless to say, dinner was unreal. Chris prepared a European-inspired collage of pastas, seafood and flavors that left every guest full and completely satisfied. The staff at One Fifth provided impeccable service, and guests raved about the experience all night.
Finally, the best part of the evening was a $40,000 check presentation to With Merci Foundation’s partner organizations. Seeing the work being done by Whitney, his teammates, and his fans in the community was definitely the most fulfilling aspect of our work that day. We cannot wait until next year’s Dine With Merci event. In the meantime, take a moment to enjoy a few outtakes from that magical evening.
