For the second year in a row, the Savvy Crew was delighted and honored to work with Whitney Mercilus, linebacker for the Houston Texans, in planning and producing his annual benefit dinner, Dine with Merci. Whitney is such a giving soul, and his foundation does amazing work in and around the Houston area by supporting families of individuals with disabilities. This year, the With Merci Foundation focused it’s efforts on financially supporting organizations that service those with autism.
We held this year’s dinner at One Fifth Houston, with the incomparable Chris Shepard at the helm as head chef. Guests enjoyed an exclusive cocktail hour powered by Deep Eddy Vodka, Don Q Rum and High West Whiskey while bidding on sports memorabilia and experience packages. Needless to say, dinner was unreal. Chris prepared a European-inspired collage of pastas, seafood and flavors that left every guest full and completely satisfied. Moreover, the staff at One Fifth provided the highest level of service imaginable, and for that we are forever in their debt.
The best part of the evening was a $40,000 check presentation to With Merci Foundation’s partner organizations: Easter SEALS, F.A.C.E.S., and Autism Rescue Angels. Seeing the work being done by Whitney and his supporters in the community was definitely the most fulfilling aspect of our work that day. We cannot wait until next year’s Dine With Merci event. In the meantime, take a moment to enjoy a few outtakes from that magical evening.
